Councilwoman Schipske to host plastic bag ban town meeting

long beach ban on plastic bagsShould plastic bags ban long beach? You can join the discussion by participating in a plastic bag town meeting sponsored by Fifth District Councillor Gerrie Schipske. The meeting will be on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at long beach sewage plant instead.

The meeting is prepared as well as the City Council to vote on a regulation prepared by the Attorney General and City Manager. December 7, 2010 the Council approved a regulation designed to have the Los Angeles County approved one duplicate would. The regulation would ban plastic bags at local grocery stores and allow the stores collect 10 cents for each bag used in its place.

The meeting opened at 10 A.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at long beach sewage plant 2950 Redondo Avenue (next Spring Street) take place.

Confirmed panelists include representatives from the cure, the Bay, the California Grocers Association, the American chemist Council and Sierra Club. Participants will address the impact of plastic bags to environment, questions and concerns with the ban on plastic bags and a discussion of viable options for long beach.
