Long Beach will soon first Southern California City bikeways in downtown, to help, have separated cyclists and vehicles safer to share the road.
Building on more than two miles of bike lanes on Broadway (East) and 3rd Street (westbound) between Alamitos Avenue and Golden Avenue separately, probably on Monday, January 31, 2011 starts. The separate bikeways were approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the California traffic control devices Committee (CTCDC) as a 12-month demonstration project. The project allows the city to the safety and efficiency to test this new design.
